One of my earliest memories of mine was with my mother walking into a traditional South Asian clothing store in India. I was astonished by the pulsing colors that the merchants extended. As a five-year-old, it felt like she was inside one of Dr. Suess's books immersed in a continuous color prism. My curious eyes caught a glimpse of a beautiful Saari with poppy red embroidery on printed orange and pink flowers with a solid emerald green border. My admiration for details, colors, and textures started my journey in fashion. Growing up, I did not have the accessibility to the varieties of apparel that I wished for, and continuously being picked for my body's shape and size; I never felt comfortable in my skin. Hence, the notion of designing encouraged me to create outfits that increased her self-confidence and accept me as a young woman. Since my parents are also textile manufacturers, the behind-the-scenes of the fashion industry captivated me and became an integral part of my childhood. To have a more in-depth knowledge of the glamorous fashion world, I interned with several designers like Anna Sui, Prabal Gurung, and Ryan Roche. I am currently building my brand, TO - modern luxury knitwear and accessory brand inspired by my heritage.
